Driving Sales Growth with the Hire-Train-Deploy Model

The client is a leading MNC in the consumer durables industry and is looking to penetrate further and expand its market share and sales growth in India. To achieve this, the company requires the support of a stable and productive field workforce capable of engaging customers and influencing purchase decisions effectively.

Issues: The client faced significant challenges in hiring in-store promoters from competing companies, as the high premium costs made this approach financially unviable. Additionally, at the current industry salary levels, the available talent pool often consisted of non-performers or candidates who were already employed but lacked productivity, leading to minimal business impact. Under this model, TeamLease hired 12th-standard freshers, who undergo a one-week training program conducted by the client before being enrolled in a BBA program through TeamLease’s partner universities. The monthly semester fees are deducted from the associate’s salary but refunded after three years, effectively making graduation sponsored by the client. Upon successfully completing the program, candidates become eligible for company payroll opportunities, leading to a long-term, cost-effective, committed, and skilled workforce.

Outcome: The implementation of the HTD (Hire Train Deploy) model and University Program enabled the client to build a cost-effective internal talent supply chain, reducing dependence on external hiring. By training and grooming candidates as per client requirements, the program ensured a skilled and business-ready workforce. Continuous upskilling was facilitated through enrollment in a structured graduation program, keeping employees engaged and aligned with industry needs. Additionally, providing a clear career growth path motivated associates, fostering long-term commitment. As a result, the client experienced a significant reduction in attrition from 60% earlier to less than ~15% at present and a notable increase in productivity from 1.5 months to 1 month , strengthening overall workforce stability and business performance.
