Seamless Workforce Transition- Optimizing HR Operations for Business Growth
Background
The client, one of India’s fastest-growing players in the quick commerce space, has transformed the way consumers shop and receive essential items. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and strategically placed delivery hubs, the platform delivers over 45,000 products—including groceries, electronics, personal care items, and more—across 50+ cities within 10 minutes.
Challenges
The client was facing significant operational challenges as its customer support ecosystem expanded. The process had been split across three different staffing partners, each managing their own set of associates. This created inconsistencies in salary processing, fragmented HR ownership, and confusion among employees who had multiple reporting managers and HR points of contact. At the same time, the client wanted to focus on customer service without getting caught up in managing daily HR tasks. A key challenge was to manage workforce transition by moving all on-roll employees to a unified third-party payroll system while ensuring the continuity of their 24/7 customer support operations.
Solutions
To resolve these issues, TeamLease proposed a centralised staffing and HR operations model. The goal was to bring all associates under a single entity, ensuring consistent HR support and streamlined payroll and compliance processes. TeamLease deployed a transition strategy spread across three weeks to mitigate attrition risk during the migration. A single point of contact was introduced for employee queries and support. Offer letters were rolled out in a timely manner, and all back-end processes were aligned to ensure business continuity throughout the transition.
Outcome
TeamLease successfully transitioned more than 400 employees within 3 weeks—well before the planned timeline. By consolidating staffing operations under TeamLease, the client saved 600 hours of HR time per month, translating into a cost savings of ₹27 lakhs per year. Employees were seamlessly onboarded under the new entity, payroll was processed without errors, and HR operations became significantly more efficient. Most importantly, the client was able to reallocate internal bandwidth to focus on enhancing its customer experience, while trusting TeamLease to manage a compliant, responsive, and streamlined HR system. This collaborative effort not only improved operational control but also laid a stable foundation for future workforce transition and scalability.
